My Mum’s needs changed last year and we found ourselves in the very daunting situation of looking for a new rest home that was tailored to meet mums' needs. The staff and management of Avonlea made the transition from mums' previous retirement home to her new home at Avonlea a very stress free experience for us. They were very supportive during this time not only for mum but also for me. We write to thank you both, and your staff, for your kind and professional care of Robin at Avonlea. Due to Robin being younger, family members and friends were mostly in full-time employment.

This area is your space with us, and we welcome you to decorate, furnish and change it in whatever ways make you feel most comfortable. “It's the simple things in life that are the most extraordinary.” ― Paulo Coelho. I've just spent the last few days with Mum and we had a wonderful time together. Avonlea is located in a picturesque setting on five acres of gently rolling hills in a Kansas City Northland neighborhood.
Services
Our facility is outfitted with equipment to care for all levels of need. Despite efforts thus far, we have not been able to attract new residents. This is impacting our ability to meet the financial needs of the Manor. Fundraisers have been held and the community has made generous donations. We have applied for funding for capital expenditures through the Farm Credit Corporation – Agrispirit Fund, the outcome of this request will be received no later than August 31, 2020.

In 2012 Keith Sargent was looking for a safe and nurturing placement for his mom, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. After not finding what he felt she deserved, he decided to create Avonlea for her and other individuals diagnosed with Alzehimer's. A place where not only residents, but family members as well as staff, felt comfortable and welcome.

Exceptional Senior Living
This meant that we were often visiting at odd times of the day to fit in round work schedules. No matter what time of the day we visited, and what the routine was for that time slot, the staff were consistently respectful, patient, and fully present with the needs of residents. We met quite a few of your lovely staff who looked after my uncle with such wonderful care and respect. Mum, Dad and I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. From the moment we arrived at your facility, your staff were amazing.

It was plain to see that Peter felt very comfortable with you all and that you were one big family. Our professional staff are trained in proper medication administration to ensure quality care for your loved one. If needed, we communicate and coordinate care with physicians, help to schedule appointments, and order medications for our residents. Our registered nurse performs monthly wellness checks on all residents and communicates any concerns with our administrator. Having an on-call RN provides another level of security for our residents. A wide variety of activities are tailored to the interests of Avonlea residents.
Subsidized Rates For New Residents
What we wanted were staff who saw Dad as more than another income stream. We weren't concerned with crystal chandeliers, shag pile carpet and modern art. The glib salespeople in their corporate strip we met at other rest homes repelled us rather than enticed us. What we wanted were people at the coalface and management who actually cared about Dad and would work to make his last days as comfortable and as happy as they could be. The Care.com Safety Center has many resources and tools to assist you in verifying and evaluating potential care providers.

They always make me feel welcome when I visit mum and often invite me to stay and have a meal with my mum if I wish to. We specialize in person-centred care for people who live with dementia. With this goal in mind, Avonlea uses a model of care based on the elements of friendship. It's a simple model as everyone understands and values friendship. Avonlea features outdoor spaces including plants and feeders to attract birds and butterflies, and a beautiful acre pond.
Our home is comfortable and homely, with fires to sit beside in the winter and a gorgeous garden to walk through in the summer. Avonlea will offer comfort to residents and their families and, if appropriate, coordinate hospice with a physician. She enjoys walking around the gardens, going for outings and the entertainments that are provided each week, especially the musical entertainment.
For example, my Dad was concerned about losing his sense of independence and freedom if he continued to stay. Through thoughtful listening and dialogue, Coteau encouraged us to bring Dad’s car and have it stay at the home. The small attention to detail has brought immense amounts of joy and contentment to Dad’s heart and wellbeing that Robin understood. The employees are always greeting us with cheerful smiles, with great disposition and more importantly the employees are expedient to communicate and issues or concerns they may have had with Dad. The staff works diligently and compassionately for the “entire well-being” of all the residents. I am writing this letter to convey and express how grateful and appreciative my family is with Coteau Range Manor and the level of care my father Roy has been receiving while in your care.
